I was asked to post this by princess of pain. She saw it on another board and thought it would be useful here.

There are specific questions attached to this to see if everyone thinks this is a good idea and if it is something you think the community NEEDS.

I mention the community cause that is what I want to base this around.

So heres the IDEA.......

For the past year there have been houses and covens and all other sorts of fancy named organizations starting up all over the world and trying to "UNITE" the community.

Do we really need unity ? or do we simply need to educate the masses about what we are. Are we not goverened by the same rules as everyone else on this planet be them religious or governmental ?

Do you feel we SHOULD start 1 community to make rules for all of us. Do we need a single collective of minds to teach us and improve our society.

Do we need the black veil or mabe something a little more descriptive.

Lets say we do start 1 communtiy to "UNITE" everyone in some vampiric way.

Who will make the rules ?
Who will the (for lack of a better word) "Elders" be ?
Should there be multiple sections to handel different situations ?
Should it be like the US system of government 2 houses with differing opinions and let the community vote on everything ?

I know personally I have a very bad connotation attached to my name in the communtiy. For some reason I have a knack for finding "DRAMA"

Well let me say this. im very opinionoated as to what the students of the communtiy learn. I dont feel there is a need to fill their head with religion or belief in rulers and overseers.

The only true knowledge they need is how to live with what they are, how to make it part of their everyday life, and how to use it to their advantage.
When I say advantage I dont mean use it to trick people into giving them stuff. I mean it in a positive way.

Now there will always be neagtive forces cause everything needs balance.

The reason I mention these is because I have been a part of the occult community in some capacity for 15 years now. initially I was a student but I never had anyone to teach me. I read books and talked to others that felt the same way I did. Over the years I ganied knowledge and wanted to pass it on. ive come to many houses, covens, forums, boards, and the like, and shared my knowledge with countless others.

Does that make me a (again for lack of a better word) "ELDER"?
Does it make me better than Joe Schmoe Vampire over there trying to learn?
Does it make me "ELITE"
Do I deserve to RUN a community.

This is the thought process over the past few weeks since the fall of my own communtiy. Ive thought about restarting it for the greater good of the communtiy. But should I. Do I deserve to ?

Dont answer those questions cause thats not the point ......

The point is why are some people int he communoty given the right to make decisions for it based on their OWN opinion or beliefs.

How come the community doest choose for itself what it wants?

and finally

Why do we let people with no knowledge of what we actually are run houses, covens, and the like ?

Well that was something
If there really need to be one big community i think that the "elders" needed to be voted for or something.
They have to know much not only about what the community is for but how to run it how to run it and look at everything and try to keep the order what is almost impossible i think.
But maybe it is better that are all small community's which are all connected with each other so that the leaders of the houses and everyone know what is going on in the world exept for what is on the news.

The comminity need to be runned by very wise "elders" if there need to be one community but that will take much time and probably not everyone is against that like always. So let one big poll go on every vampire site known! And let everyone vote and what has the most votes that need to be it. Than we know if there should or shouldn't be one big community to "unite" everyone. But with that poll there much stand much information about what the community will be like and everything, so it all will take much time. Maybe that community must be leaded by every leader of the big houses and some more wise vampires who can be even more wiser than the leaders of those houses.
Why did some make a house when they don't even know much about vampires and everything, i don't know why but those must not be "elder" of the community.


And well this site and forum isn't a house or something this is all for information to the onces who need and want it to help newly awakened and all who need some information more than they already know of what they are. I try to do my best for everything but it won't work that much.

You are doing fine. All things need time. I've asked Dividian to post that piece in here, because I felt it was a good thing to think about. I explained to him that we were not a house but a forum. But it's a great piece to discuss and I hope more will join in this discussion.

You are right Nasta. At least we found out there's more like us living in the Netherlands. That is a very important thing because most of us felt really alone. But now back to topic (we're loosing the topics in here all the time lol).

I allready gave my comment on the original piece but I'll try to put it here in a somewhat shorter way.

I believe a lot of things Dividian mentions are that way because people are used to a certain structure within an organisation. I believe a lot of people don't question it because they either don't think for themselfs, or it isn't allowed to question it within the community, house or coven they are in or because it's just easy for them that someone else is deciding everything. I think we are all responsible for the way a house, coven or community is runned and we should question the things that are wrong. And if there's no room for our opinions or questions than it would be wise to leave because a group that isn't willing to listen to its members is obviously not there for the best interest of the members.

Unity may be possible, but comes with a lot of issues. And it will only work if all are satisfied with the way it's arranged. In the first reply I gave to the original piece I also said to start with it's important within the hearts of people. To start looking at things that bind us, that we have in common instaed of looking at the things that divide us.And as for all the different houses, I think it's good they are there, after all we are not all looking for the same.

Well yes it's probably the best that it's this way you could never have a big community to unite every vampire maybe only one community each country is already difficult to lead.
But it is a idea of one big community who unites everyone the only thing is that it is just impossible unless you spend years of time in it to only arrange that there will be something like that . And i think that not much want to spend to much time on only preparing that most want it is just done all in one second what is impossible .

Hi Im' new too your forum, but not the questions your discussing.

I am in the USA and the vampire community is actually quite large. There are of course more than one community. Mine, ordo embraced is not for humans, donors, swans or elders. It has no ranking system. I don't think there needs too be a sanguinarium or a Covica. (Community Of Vampire International Community Affairs). I don't think those people are qualified too run it, being as how they lifestyle a scene. What about those who do not lifestyle a scene, like myself and my members and friends that I know? They look at Todd, Belanger, Sanguinarius, and others and think they are idiots. And judging by how they powermonger I'd have too agree with them mostly.

What do you get from being involved in petty community politics? Besides a headache and an ulcer. What if you write an article the powermongers don't like, boom they vote againest you or make fun of your ideas. Trust me its happened too me. They are children. My group doesn't follow the black veil. We don't follow it because Todd write it up from the 13 laws of community for the Camarilla vampires in vampire the masquerade. The Sabbat has 13th laws as well in the book of nod or dirty secrets of the black hand. Using roleplay laws? Even Belanger's re vision is a joke. My Group has its own humourous tenets but they are noones law, its like a guidebook for those who want too view an honest perspective of real vampyrism.

You don't need a grimoire or a codex too be a vamp. I am happy we can write real non fiction these days and publish it, but its like 1 step fwd and 5 back. They only tell their truths..not all the truths.

That's humanity, telling things they want you to know and not what they don't want you to know.
Same goes for all the allien discussions, it's quite obvious that we can't be only living beings. The goverment knows it but doesn't tell a word.
When you have things like rankings that sort of things happen. Another things is the army, the attack and tactics are already known for a week but the lowest ranks get to know it day before or same day. Why? Who knows, maybe to let them sleep with a clear mind some longer. Or just to show others you know things they don't cause you're just higher ranked.

Using ranks is indeed a waist of time, same goes for a sort of thing called gouverment (voice of the people? Uhh, no! They just do what they please and try to help the people a bit so they're still be in gouverment next year).

Making rules is just a stupid thing to, when you have rules people like to break them. Without you'll see less things getting stolen, violated (as when there would be rules). Ofcaurse there usefull to guide you, but it shouldn't be like you have to obay rules. Shure guidelines are needable, cause else you don't know what to do or not. But it shouldn't tell the way you have to live.

Hallo Vincent ! en sorry voor mijn zeer later reactie.
Ik heb je post gelezen en je hebt gelijk,er zijn zat wanabees in de vampiergemeenschap,er er zijn eigenlijk weinig echt goede sites en forums over vampirisme.
En vampirisme is zeker geen sprookje,zat mensen denken dat het zo leuk is,maar er zitten zeker aardig wat nadelen aan.
Mensen hebben nog steeds het idee dat vampieren hetzelfde zijn als in films,en dat beeld krijg je moeilijk bij ze weg.
Ik vind het goed dat je je mening zo ongezouten verkondigt,zo hoord het ook,hard en eerlijk.
